Saturday 18th to Saturday 25th May 2024: Cordoba Spring Feria

The Córdoba Spring Fair, also known as Feria de Nuestra Señora de la Salud (Our Lady of the Health), is a week-long celebration held from May 25 to June 1, 2024, in Córdoba, Spain. The event, dating back to the 13th century, is dedicated to Our Lady of Health and features a rich blend of Andalusian culture and traditions.

The fair officially begins with the "Alumbrado," the lighting of the fairgrounds at midnight on the opening night. The fairgrounds, located on the banks of the Guadalquivir River near the Mezquita-Catedral, are adorned with thousands of lights and lanterns, creating a magical atmosphere.

The Córdoba Fair is known for its lively, family-friendly environment, making it a perfect opportunity to experience the joy and hospitality of Andalusian culture.


Monday 20th May 2024: El Rocio Pilgrimage

El Rocío (link opens in Google Maps) is a small village in Spain that hosts La Romería del Rocío, one of the country’s largest pilgrimages, attracting up to a million visitors. The pilgrimage, dating back to the 15th century, honours the Virgin of El Rocío, believed to have healing powers. Pilgrims, or Rocieros, travel with decorated carriages, and the festival features traditional clothing, music, and dances. The event culminates early on Pentecost Monday with the statue of the Virgin being paraded through the village. Tip: Access and accommodation will be challenging on the day due to the festival's popularity so make travel plans in advance.

Sunday 2nd June: Corpus Christi 2024

The Corpus Christi festival in Granada, held in late May or early June, is one of the city's most important events. The festivities span an entire week and include a wide array of cultural activities such as puppet shows, bullfighting, traditional processions, theatre, concerts, exhibitions, and flamenco performances. The city is adorned with decorations and flamenco outfits, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere. Key events include two major processions: the Tarasca, which features a figure of a woman on a dragon and is popular with children, and the solemn religious procession on Corpus Christi day.

Seville's Corpus Christi festival is another major celebration, known for its grand processions and religious significance. It typically involves a solemn procession through the city's streets, with various religious floats and participants dressed in traditional attire. The event underscores Seville's rich cultural and religious heritage and is one of the city's highlights of the year​.

Friday 7th June to Sunday 14th July: Granada Festival of Music and Dance 2024

Sunday 16th June: Cabra Gypsy Festival

The Romería de los Gitanos de Cabra is a significant annual event in Andalusia, celebrated at the Santuario de la Virgen de la Sierra. This pilgrimage, held every third Sunday of June since 1969, is a vibrant gathering recognised as a Fiesta of National Tourist Interest in Andalusia.

Key highlights of the event include:

  1. Preceding Night's Camp: Participants camp near the sanctuary, engaging in song and floral offerings to the Virgin.
  2. Gitana Mass: The central event is the Gitana Mass, featuring traditional songs and lively expressions of devotion.
  3. Procession: After the Mass, the image of the Virgin is carried around the sanctuary by costaleros, accompanied by chants and cheers.

Sunday 23rd June: San Juan 2024

San Juan Feast (in the evening). Like in every community along the Costa del Sol, friends and families assemble on the beach to celebrate the arrival of summer until late at night. Huge bonfires are lit to burn rag dolls, or "juas," a pagan celebration that originated in ancient European rituals and is still practised today.

Tuesday 16th July: Virgin del Carmen Celebrations 2024

The Virgin del Carmen festival, celebrated in coastal towns across Andalucia, honours the patron saint of fishermen. It takes place on July 16th, with processions carrying the Virgin's statue from the church to the sea, where it is placed on a decorated boat. Fishermen and locals accompany the procession, praying for protection and a good catch. The event is marked by fireworks, music, and dancing, reflecting the deep connection between coastal communities and the sea.

According to the Old Testament, the prophet Elias withdrew to a cave on Mount Carmel near Haifa (Israel). Centuries later, hermits emulating Elijah sought the protection of the Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel - the Virgin of Carmen. Also known as Stella Maris, she was quickly embraced by mariners and fishermen across the globe as their town patron.


25th to 27th July: Brisa Festival Malaga

Sunday 14th, Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th August: Horse races on the beach at Sanlucar 2024

The Sanlúcar de Barrameda Horse Races, held annually in August on the beaches of Sanlúcar de Barrameda in Andalusia, are one of Spain's oldest horse racing events, dating back to 1845. These unique races feature thoroughbreds competing on the sandy shores at low tide, creating a picturesque and thrilling spectacle. The event spans two sessions in early and late August, drawing significant crowds and featuring a lively atmosphere with food, drink, and betting.

Saturday 17th August to Saturday 24th August: Malaga Feria 2024

The Malaga Fair, or Feria de Malaga, is a vibrant summer festival held annually in August. It celebrates the city's culture with traditional music, dancing, and food. The fair kicks off with a spectacular fireworks display and a parade featuring colourful floats. Throughout the week, the streets come alive with live music, flamenco performances, and street vendors selling local delicacies. There are also amusement rides and activities for all ages. The fair culminates with a grand finale featuring more fireworks and live music.


Wednesday 21st August to Sunday 25th August: La Vuelta in Andalucia (Major Cycle Race)

La Vuelta, also known as the Vuelta a España, is one of the Grand Tours of cycling, alongside the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia. It typically takes place in August and September, covering around 3,000 kilometers over three weeks. The race showcases Spain's diverse landscapes, from mountains to coastlines, and attracts top cyclists from around the world. Each year, the route varies, featuring challenging climbs and exciting sprints. La Vuelta is a prestigious event in the cycling calendar, drawing large crowds of spectators and generating excitement across Spain.


Thursday 28th to Saturday 30th August 2024: La Cala de Mijas Festival 2024 (CANCELLED)

Due to local politics and matters of contract terms, La Cala de Mijas Festival 2024 has been cancelled.

Saturday 9th September: Cascamorras Guadix 2024

The Cascamorras Festivals in Baza (6th of September) and Guadix (9th of September) is a unique event held annually on September 6th. It revolves around a playful rivalry between Baza and neighbouring Guadix. The main attraction is when a participant, known as the Cascamorras, attempts to bring a statue of the Virgin Mary from Guadix to Baza, while residents of Guadix try to prevent it. Various dates from May to August. "Oasis Marbella" are hosting various music events throughout the summer at the Recinto Ferial De San Pedro Alcántara (link opens up the location in Google Maps). Including a 90's Music festival, Reggaeton day and a Mark Anthony concert.
