Fuengirola Mare Nostrum
The hillside of the magnificent Sohail Castle in Fuengirola is one of Spain's most spectacular outdoor music venues from May to September due to its proximity to the sea and its view of the enormous Sohail castle.
In 2016, the Mare nostrum Festival debuted on the festival scene. Since then, it has quickly established a reputation as one of the top music festivals on the Costa del Sol.
It was selected as the location for the only stop in the EU on Jennifer Lopez's tour due to its exceptional beachfront setting. She was followed in fame by other legendary performers like Ricky Martin, Bob Dylan, Sting, Alejandro Fernández, Santana, and Manuel Carrasco.
And for this year, several musicians have already been announced, including Manuel Carrasco, Fulanita Fest, Pablo Alborán, Martita de Graná, Robbie Williams, Cosqun Rock, Ultra Beach Costa del Sol, Kany Garca, Tini, Hombres G, Morat, Locos por la Msica, Luna Sur, and Boombastic Day.
Starlite Marbella

Every year, in a two-month extravaganza held in July and August, Starlite, billed as the most significant boutique festival in the world, detonates onto the music festival and cultural event scene on the Costa Del Sol. It is widely recognised as one of Spain's most significant annual social events and among the best music festivals on the Costa del Sol.
What is so unique about Starlite?
In addition to its stunning setting, Cantera de Nagüeles, an abandoned quarry 5 km from Marbella, has been transformed into a glitzy open-air lounge and concert venue with an incredible line-up of top musicians.
The guests are only 2 metres away from the artists at their closest point, which adds to the location's intimacy and uniqueness.

The following artists have been confirmed as playing at the 2023 Cantera de Nagüeles: Sara Baras, Taburete, Antonio José, Vicente Amigo, Lola Indigo, as well as the Gipsy Kings, Anastasia, Sir Rod Stewart, Ludovico Einaudi, David Bisbal, Norah Jones, Andrés Calamaro, Carlos Rivera, Israel Fernández y Farruquito, and India Martinez.

Weekend Beach in Torre del Mar

As one of the best music festivals on the Costa del Sol and one of Europe's top music festivals, now in its eighth year, this is yet another musical event to check out, drawing more than 135,000 visitors over four days.
Maluma, a Latin music superstar who has achieved international fame with songs like "Farandulera," "La Obsesión," and "La Temperature," is the featured performer at this beachside live music oasis.
Attend the Festival to hear his brand-new songs, which, in his own words, "will elevate his musical career to another level." A diverse mix of rock, hip-hop, pop, electronic, and reggae will be played at Poniente Beach by a stellar line-up of DJs and international artists, including Fangoria, Sidecars, Delaossa, Mala Rodriguez, and Kiko Veneno.
Cala de Mijas International Festival
When? 31st August to 2nd September 2023

The Cala Mijas International Festival returns as the summer's intense heat give way to September's kinder sun. Cala de Mijas is a charming town on the Costa del Sol renowned for its beautiful beaches and a wide variety of top-notch restaurants and eateries.
Who will be headlining at the Cala de Mijas International Festival 2023?
The Strokes from New York, the electrifying Florence + The Machine, and Arcade Fire, a more modern Canadian indie band, are the three big names on the bill. From the local scene, foals, Metronomy, Amyl and the Sniffers, The Blaze, Delaport, Amaia, Cupido, Carino, Baiuca, and Judeline and Ballena are all present and accounted for.
There are options for parking, Glamping, and camping for festivalgoers.
Fuengirola's Ultra Beach
Some of the top performers in the world of electronic music come together for one day only at the Ultra Beach Festival in Fuengirola. The Festival, spread across two stages, with the main stage on the hill of Sohail Castle and the second stage inside the Moorish fortress, has quickly become one of southern Spain's top electronic music and dance events.
The Festival also hosts renowned DJs and features outstanding audio-visual productions. It is anticipated that the line-up will be revealed soon.

Pablo Picasso Celebrations
When and Where?
- From May 8 to September 10 2023, the Picasso Museum will host Picasso: Material and Body.
- Picasso's Eco will be displayed at the Picasso Museum from October 2, 2023, to March 24, 2024.
- From June 21 to October 1 2023, the Casa Natal Picasso Foundation will host The Ages of Pablo.
The Year of Picasso in 2023 will be one of the most significant cultural events, and Malaga will participate in the festivities.
Picasso died in 1973, and this year marks the 50th anniversary of his passing. To mark this important event, Malaga teams up with New York, Madrid, Paris, and Barcelona for a Picasso festival.
Holy Week processions in Malaga
When? 2nd April to 9th April 2023.
Where? In and around Malaga.
Semana Santa en Málaga, or Holy Week in Malaga, is the city's annual celebration of the Passion of Jesus.
During the final week of Lent and at Easter, brotherhoods (comrades) parade through the streets of Malaga. It is an extremely popular religious and cultural event that draws many tourists to Malaga (Andalusia, Spain). Brotherhoods each have their own marches (from their respective churches). Still, they all share a section that all processions pass through (official tour). The processions on the Alameda Principal and Calle Larios are particularly visible.
The May Cross Celebrations
When? Around the 1st of May
May Crosses is a traditional festival where crosses are meticulously decorated with flowers, shells, and mantles.
The precise day varies depending on the area. The May Cross celebrations were first held in Granada, where the city council recently outlawed the event for being excessive. This tradition started in Malaga, where Paella, wine, and live music were served at the Cruces de Mayo celebration held in North Park last year.
Corpus Christi
When? 18th June 2023
Religious processions are held in Malaga City Centre.
San Juan
When? 23rd - 24th June 2023
Where? On just about any beach along the coast of Costa del Sol!
San Juan Feast. Like in every community along the Costa del Sol, friends and families assemble on the beach to celebrate the arrival of summer until late at night. Huge bonfires are lit to burn rag dolls, or "juas," a pagan celebration that originated in ancient European rituals and is still practised today.
The Virgen del Carmen
When? 16th July 2023.
Where? Various coastal towns in the Costa del Sol.
The sea procession, held in honour of the patron saint of fishermen, is carried through the town's streets and then taken out to sea in a boat while being escorted by numerous other boats.
The Malaga Fair 2023
The most well-known traditional Festival is the Malaga Fair (Feria de Malaga), which takes place in the second half of August and is eagerly anticipated by thousands of residents and visitors alike.
Despite the climate at this time of year, the city has a vibrant and lively atmosphere for a week, including lots of singing and dancing. The fairgrounds play a significant role in the event, with equestrians, beautifully decorated carts, and many places to sit, eat, drink, and dance until dawn.
Our Lady of Victory
When? 8th September
The patron saint of Malaga is honoured on this day with a procession through the city's main streets, wreaths, and singing and dancing ensembles.
Columbus Day
When? 12th October
Spain celebrates Columbus Day on October 12th as a national holiday, and most businesses are closed. This day, also referred to as "dia del Pilar," "dia de la hispanidad," or "dia del descubrimiento," marks the unification of Spanish and Spanish-speaking Latin America.
Latin American communities expose tourists to their culture, tradition, cuisine, and handmade goods. Everyone can participate in the celebration, which includes children's events and activities like games, competitions, and parades. Latin dance classes and theatrical productions are additional activities.
The “Zombie Walk”
The most terrifying night of the year on the Costa del Sol takes on a carnival-coloured touch. The so-called "Zombie Walk," which features a large contingent of the undead marching through the city's streets after beginning at the Plaza de la Constitución, has recently become established. Fun is assured!
Christmas Lights Switch On 2023
When? 24th November 2023.
Suppose you're in the city for Christmas this year. In that case, you must see the Christmas lights in Malaga, which will be among Europe's brightest displays until January 6. The Christmas lights will be switched on, on November 24, 2023.
Christmas in Malaga
Beginning in early December, Costa del Sol's capital city stands out for its magnificent Christmas decorations and lighting in the main streets and squares.

Holy Innocents and Verdiales Fair
When? 28th December 2023
Today, people make fun of one another (as in many other countries on April 1). However, Verdiales, a festival that attracts tens of thousands of Malaga residents for a day filled with music, song, and dance, is also celebrated there.
An ancient peasant musical tradition called verdiales likely predates Flamenco.
Sporting Events
Sporting events are an excellent way to unite and share their love for the same team or sport. One such event is the Costa del Sol Classic, an annual golf tournament in Spain. It is known as the costliest event in Europe and attracts thousands of golfers to the sunny Costa del Sol every year. When? 21st November to the 26th November 2023
Malaga will again serve as the host city for the Davis Cup tournament's final rounds in 2022.
The quarterfinals occur from November 21–23, the semi-finals from November 24–25, and the championship game from November 26.
ATP 250 Andalucia Open at Puente Romano Tennis Club
The Andalucia Open will be held at this exceptional tennis club in 2023, among other prestigious competitions. The competition runs from March 27 to April 11, with public access to matches beginning on April 1.
Costa del Sol golf tournaments in 2023
The Costa del Sol is also known as the Costa del Golf because it is home to numerous top-notch golf courses. Several prestigious competitions are held each year along the coast, and in 2023, they will include the following outstanding competitions.
Club de Golf Valderrama - LIV Golf
This year, the best golf course in Spain is a part of the LIV Golf circuit and serves as the site of one of its competitions. The competition will be held from June 30 to July 1 and include some of the best golfers in the world.
They included Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, and Bryson DeChambeau in 2022.
2023 Solheim Cup at Finca Cortesin
The Solheim Cup will visit the Costa del Sol this year, hosting one of the biggest competitions in the world. From September 18 to 24, the top female golfers in Europe and the US will compete at Finca Cortesin, one of Spain's top golf venues.
