You’ve heard people say, ‘Someone up there was telling me something’... I’m sure! Fair to say there were a series of events which culminated in selling my car and jumping in my VW transporter with my Border Terrier Barney’ and travelling initially to France to look for property… I just re-read that and it sounds like I did a bank job haha! It wasn’t anything as drastic. Just a realization that there was more to life.

France…. Was FAR too cold and damp, to be honest!

We meandered down to Marbella. I slept in the van in the street for a while in Marbella town centre before moving to a site on the beach near Elviria. I rented for a few months but realized quickly it’s where I felt very happy. Everyone has to find their happy place, right?!

Eventually, I bought a property in La Mairena but to be quite honest I got bored; really bored. Covid of course didn’t help.

Despite being retired (I thought)... I can safely say that more work has been undertaken than ever - making the house my home; the garden an extension of the home and the idea of sharing my space (or the part I want to) was born and ongoing and something that I’m continuing to develop on a daily basis. I’m passionate about it.

My goal is to create a small but beautiful location for travellers wanting a room, a place for motorhomes or for camping. (Glamping, actually).

I bought the property in September ‘21. By March ‘22 I had managed to completely refurbish the guest accommodation and my website for my BnB - Los Chozones in Alhaurin el Grande will give you an idea of what we’ve achieved.

In January this year, we won an award for our b&b, our average review was 9.5 and exceptional with booking.com guests.

To say I’m happy where I live is an understatement. I love it. I love it. I love it! I love the environment and the tranquillity, yet I'm still within easy reach of Andalusia’s amazing places to visit. It really is less than 30 minutes to most places. Marbella, Malaga, Caminito del Rey, Mijas Pueblo and la Cala de Mijas.

For me being able to escape busy places is important but occasionally when I want to it’s close at hand. Finca Los Chozones…. It means farmhouse… Los Chozones in Spanish means "the huts". Originally small huts were built for farmers to escape the sun. You’ll be made very welcome if you’d like to visit or use us if you’re searching for your own dream home in Spain.
