1. How long have you lived on the Costa del Sol for?
3 years, más o menos.

2. What made you want to open a business on the Costa del Sol?
I wanted to have full control over my work life balance and make a living doing something that makes me happy. It all came down to improving our lifestyle I guess, the move and the new business.

3. What’s the best thing about the Costa del Sol as a place to live in your opinion?
For me it’s the combination of having the beauty of the sea and the mountains, the old traditional pueblos, bars, restaurants & architecture juxtaposed with a more modern, multicultural scene that I feel is still emerging.

4. Give us a brief description of what you get up to on your usual working day.
Well, I have two kinds of work days, an office day and an event day so let’s talk about the one that’s more fun! On an event day I get up early to give me time to get into performance mode over a coffee in the garden whilst I read my notes. I then load the car with my wine & kit and head to wherever I am running a tasting that day. I set up, beautifying whatever surroundings I have and then welcome guests to the space. I spend the next two hours sharing artisan Spanish wines and telling stories of their origins & the people behind them. We laugh, we drink, we go on a journey of discovery together. Then there are usually lots of hugs and/or handshakes (depending on the crowd!) and we say our goodbyes, pack up our kit and hit the road. I get home, collapse with a glass of wine and slip back into being a wife and a mother (along with a wine lover!).

5. How has business been for you in the past two years?
It has been a roller coaster! We have been lucky enough to always have a following of loyal customers and a steady stream of tourists that want to join us at events but getting the business to be a profitable entity is an ongoing journey!

6. How do you enjoy spending your weekends and free time?
We love exploring Andalucia and try to take part in as many local festivals and especially tapa routes as possible! Food and drink tend to be at the centre of most of our jaunts but if we can combine that with a trip into the mountains or a trip down to the sea then all the better!

7. If you could be in charge of any other business here on the Costa del Sol for a day, which would it be and why?
I would probably move over from my wine focus to a food focus. My friend Hanni Martini runs Food Experience Malaga and I would steal her job in a heartbeat!

8. What’s your favourite food?
Such an impossible question! I love fresh seafood, especially shellfish like almejas, conchas finas and bolos but I am also a big jamon fan. Give me a melt in your mouth plate of jamon iberika and a glass of manzanilla and I am a happy girl!

9. Describe what your perfect home on the Costa del Sol would be like and where it would be.
I am slowly learning that the dream of being out in the campo is not for me so ideally somewhere 20 mins out of Malaga, a house with a little land but not too remote. Traditional in style with modern touches, a pool area with an outdoor kitchen and of course, beautiful views!

10. Who would be your perfect dinner guest?
Anyone who appreciates good food and wine, has a sense of culinary adventure, appreciates the importance of humour and silliness, and has had a life well lived enough to share some amazing stories with us.

Thank you Linda McIntosh for taking the time to answer our questions!
