Whether you're considering your move to Spain or already live here, it's always refreshing to hear about others' stories and find out about some of the people who live here. That's why we are conducting quick 10-minute interviews with colleagues, clients, friends and acquaintances so you get an insight into the type of people living here and day-to-day life here in Spain!

Husband and wife, Jos and Mary-Ann Pluijmakers from Maryland in America sold their home with us and also bought their new home through us - a gorgeous country house in Monda!

Thank you for writing us such a glowing review!...

“We can honestly say that Kelly, Tyler, and David are very professional and knowledgeable as real estate agents in Spain. We were extremely pleased with all aspects of the service they provided, from the valuation of the property, superb photography, excellent website, and all the help and expertise they gave us throughout the process of selling and buying our property.

We would highly recommend Kelly and the entire team of Mediterranean Homes. - Jos & Mary-Ann Pluijmakers - 22-1-2023”

1. How long have you lived on the Costa del Sol for?

Just under 2 years and we love it.

2. What made you want to open a business on the Costa del Sol?

A great opportunity, an interesting investment climate with good potential returns.

3. What’s the best thing about the Costa del Sol as a place to live in your opinion?

The great food, nice weather and being away from all the hustle and bustle.

4. Give us a brief description of what you get up to on your usual working day.

I am an early riser and work from home when not travelling. The 6 hours time difference between Spain and the US gives me an opportunity to interact early in the day with my team in Europe or it stretches my day when we are in Spain when interacting with my US-based colleagues. Most of our activities are related with the US stock market and investing in securities.

5. How has business been for you in the past two years?

2021 was the best year ever and 2022 was more of a challenging year with the Ukraine war, inflation, Corona, and supply chain issues. But even in market downturns it was possible to make money in the stock market or you position yourself for the next ride up and 2023 looks to be a very promising year with the current upward trend in the market.

6. How do you enjoy spending your weekends and free time?

I do like riding a motorcycle and here in the south of Spain we have some of the nicest and most scenic roads. Hang out with friends at the pool, enjoy great food, go to a concert, or fix things around the house and there is always something to do.

7. If you could be in charge of any other business here on the Costa del Sol for a day, which would it be and why?

I wouldn’t mind being a realtor for a day and see what’s happening in that world. I am sure you have a great diversity of folks from all walks of life.

8. What’s your favourite food?

I do enjoy the Mediterranean cuisine, love a good curry and a nice steak accompanied by some nice red wine, that would make my day!

9. Describe what your perfect home on the Costa del Sol would be like and where it would be.

That home for us is in Monda! We were fortunate to have found a place that offers us great views and tranquillity in a small but lively Spanish village on the Costa del Sol.

10. What Tip would you like to share with others contemplating coming to live in Spain?

Get the best advice and people when buying a house, make sure that all angles are covered. If you make an effort to speak Spanish it will be appreciated, try to integrate and be polite as a guest in this country.

11. Who would be your perfect dinner guest?

I wish I could have the opportunity to have dinner once more with my parents, but this is unfortunately no longer possible.

12. What would you like to ask your next “10 Minutes with” guest?

If you could send a message to a large group of people, who would those people be? What would your message say?

Thank you Jos for taking the time to answer our quick questions!
